Bursera graveolens (Palo santo).
Its name means “holy or sacred wood.”
Palo Santo is a cousin to Frankincense but it is from South America. 🇪🇨
Take time to view the short video posted here to appreciate our founder, 💜D Gary Young, and his exploration through Ecuador in search of the plants 🌱 that would be used to bring us the world's best essential oils.
This picture is of the Finca Botanica Farm and Distillery in Guayaquil, Ecuador which supports an abundance of palo santo trees and many more local plants and herbs like Ylang Ylang, Lemongrass, Eucalyptus Blue, Dorado Azul and Mastrante).
Gary Young had gone all over South America looking for Palo Santo.
When Young Living acquired the farm in Ecuador it had a Palo Santo forrest on it. ☀️
👉🏻 Important to know:
You can’t get Palo Santo oil from the tree unless it is dead, but it has to die on its own.😮
After the tree dies, it lays for several YEARS 🗓 before the wood is used.
THEN, the wood gives the very finest essential oil with amazingly powerful constituents. 💥
Most essential oil marketing companies cannot get this oil because in Ecuador it is against the law to remove branches or cut down Palo Santo trees. 🤯
Very few companies are even permitted to take the dead trees and produce essential oil. ❌
With Young Living we know that we have pure Palo Santo from Bursera graveolens,
obtained from dead trees that have been lying for several years and then properly distilled.
The oil is distilled from sawdust of the dead tree bark, wood and branches.
🔑 Key Constituent is Limonene (45 - 80%)
Look in your reference books❗️
Usually we find high concentrations of Limonene in Citrus rind oils.
