Reusable Wipes

Prepare cloth squares (use old tshirts, baby wash cloths or cut soft material that wont fray with pinking shears).

Disposable Wipes

Paper towels are great to use for disposable wipes.  Here are some different options when deciding which type of towels to buy.  

  • Natural paper towels
  • Bamboo paper towels - can be laundered 100 times but they still will stain and pill and look ugly (but they are clean).  Bamboo paper towels can be cut into 4 squares to give you 80 reusable wipes per roll
  • Bleach-free heavy duty paper towels
  • Bounty heavy duty paper towels

Solution recipe:

  • 2 tbsp coconut oil, melted (or fractionated)
  • 1-3/4 cup distilled water
  • 5 drops lavender essential oil
  • 1 drop of tea tree essential oil
  • 5 drops of Gentle Baby essential oil
  • 1 tsp of KidScents Shampoo, Kid Scents Bath Gel or Castile soap, baby mild

Containers:

Choose a suitable container to hold wipes and solution

  • glass bowl or jar
  • food storage container
  • rubbermaid 7 cup container (2 quart size)

Directions:

  1.  Cut/prepare cloth or paper towels for wipes
  2. Stack the wipes/paper towels in container
  3. Prepare solution
  4. Pour solution over paper towels/wipes and squish the lid on.
  5. Turn container upside-down for about a minute, then shake the container to coat all surfaces with the solution.
  6. Open the lid of the container and remove the paper ring in the middle of the paper towel roll.
  7. Transfer wipes to an old baby wipe container or plastic ziplock bag. (Accordion fold the wipes into the container).
