Distillation by D. Gary Young

Distillation as told by D. Gary Young:

"I truly believe distillation is the most important step in the essential oil process – anyone can plant a plant, grow a plant, or harvest a plant, but [proper] distillation determines quality.”

The big push behind essential oils comes from the perfume and flavoring industries. They are the “cartel rulers” of the essential oil industry worldwide. They are our “worst” competitor because they cut oils. What they do is take an oil, such as lavender, and remove the lavendula oil and lineol oil, then replace those with synthetic elements and sell it to an aromatherapy broker. And when they need more, they take lavendin, which is high in camphene, like 18%, and heat it to flash the camphor off and then fill that 18% void with synthetic lineol oils. So, when you see lineol at 62-70%, you know it’s been adultered.

3-4 years ago, Gary was handed a lavender marketed as the purest, best quality in the world, and they had listed the molecules. But when you calculated all the molecules listed they were claiming it had 310%.

He said, "So, it’s easy to see the deceit that goes on in this industry because people cannot get the quality that you folks have due to the fact that I invested in what have now 32 years ago.” Creative accounting and fuzzy math doesn’t add up to worldwide farms and in-house distillation.

“I am so proud of all of you because I count you as truth-seekers in Young Living and it makes me proud to be surrounded by such quality people every day!”
